Thale Waek is one of the Krabi Islands, a natural attraction of Krabi province that has been dubbed by tourists worldwide as “Unseen Thailand” due to the wonders of nature.
When the tide is low, it brings many sand grains together at a certain point, causing a phenomenon known as the “Separated Sea” and revealing a long stretch of white dunes.
There is a connection between the three islands, namely Koh Kai, Koh Mor, and Koh Thap, where the dunes gradually disappear under the water only when entering the high tide period of each day.
Phi Phi Island, located in the Hat Nopparat Thara National Park – Phi Phi Islands, is considered the most famous island in the entire archipelago of the Krabi islands. Both Thai and foreign tourists recognize the beauty of Phi Phi Island.
Phi Phi Island has been chosen as the primary filming location for many blockbuster movies. According to legend, Phi Phi Islands were initially called by the locals Pulau Piapi; the word Pulau means island. Piapi means a type of sea tree. Later called Pee Pee, and finally became Phi Phi.
Phi Phi Islands consist of 6 islands, namely Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Ley, Pida Nok, Pida Nai, Yung Island, Bamboo Island, and Phi Phi islands, off the coast of Krabi. About 42 kilometres, the general appearance is a semicircular cove. Phi Phi Island is surrounded by limestone mountains so steep that they are almost the sea or what the islanders call Pileh.
Hong Island is an archipelago with many large and small Krabi islands, such as Koh Lao or Koh Saga, Koh Lao Riam, Koh Pak Ka, and Koh Lao Lading, with Koh Hong being the largest island in the south. The general appearance is a limestone mountain. Coral reefs in shallow and deep water are suitable for diving, fishing, and sightseeing and can be rented from Ao Nang by boat. Travel time is about 1 hour.
Railay Beach is located in Ao Nang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Krabi Province. It is a white sandy beach along the gorges. Railay Beach is well known among tourists, especially rock climbing enthusiasts. This beach is divided into East Railay Beach (Nam Mao Beach) and West Railay Beach. It continues to be popular because of its crystal clear waters, beautiful beaches, and excellent sunset spots.
Koh Lanta is a district of Krabi province and is a large Krabi island. It has a slender shape with an area of 472 square kilometres. The name “Lanta” is assumed to be distorted from the word “Lantas,” which is Javanese, meaning something for grilling fish. Because in the past, this big island was where Javanese boaters often stopped and grilled fish for food.
Later, the island transformed into a port where Chinese and Arab merchants sailed the Phuket waters. Penang, Singapore, and Indonesia stopped by to rest and trade until finally becoming a community where people have lived continuously for over a hundred years.
Maya Bay is located on Phi Phi Ley Island. The second largest island of Phi Phi Krabi Islands. Nature created Maya Bay from the erosion of the surrounding cliffs. It cleft into a small crescent-shaped cove surrounded by limestone hills.
Maya Bay is another highlight of the Krabi Sea that attracts tourists to relax. The white sandy beaches and crystal clear emerald waters provide an atmosphere and natural surroundings covered with coastal plants. Foreign tourists regard Maya Bay as “the most beautiful Thai sea in the world.”
Koh Ha (Tukon Lima), which Tukon Lima means Five Rocks, is a group of 5 islands. Koh Ha Yai has a grassland on the ridge of the Krabi islands. There is an island shaped like a sail which is an island with water through it.
